Good posture is extremely important in rowing. Good posture comes from a solid CORE and good FLEXIBILITY. It may sound a little too simplistic, but your ability/inability to touch your toes will determine your technical efficiency and power as a rower. If you can't achieve a solid body over position out of the finish before releasing the knees, you will compromise your ability to arrive at the front end of the stroke in a solid position to take the rowing stroke out of the front end, and will likely compromise the catch and even disrupt the movement of the boat during the recovery.
