If tension in your hamstrings, glutes, and low back prevents you from achieving the body over position after the finish, you can be sure that you will not be rowing with optimal efficiency and sequencing. If you are constantly fighting your body to achieve the correct posture, you are wasting energy, compromising positioning, and effecting timing and power, specifically during the recovery and around the catch. Working to lengthen and strengthen your posterior chain is key to success in rowing.
If you can't touch your toes, you can't row well... it really is that simple....
